Speakers

Barry Kwong

Director, Sustainability

Barry is a highly regarded sustainability professional with over 25 years of experience advising business leaders on formulating sustainability strategies and integrating them into corporate values and culture.
In 2022, Barry joined the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks (HKSTP) where he currently leads the sustainability strategy and HKSTP’s net zero roadmap implementation. His role also involves driving the momentum of building the next generation of bankable climate solutions ecosystem for Hong Kong and beyond.
Prior to joining HKSTP, Barry served as the Regional Head of the Climate Solutions Partnership at HSBC Asia Pacific. Throughout his 15-year tenure at HSBC, Barry acted as a subject matter expert, offering guidance to top management on advocating for sustainability.
In addition to his professional roles, Barry served on the vetting committees of the Environment & Conservation Fund and the Council for Sustainable Development.

Margaret Ho

Senior Manager, Industry Development

Margaret is an ESG and sustainability specialist dedicated to driving the construction industry’s progress towards a net-zero future. With a wealth of experience developing ESG strategies and plans for construction companies, and a strong academic background in environmental management, Margaret currently spearheads numerous sustainability initiatives at the Construction Industry Council. Her mission encompasses culture shaping, standardisation, and tools development and adoption such as the CIC Carbon Assessment Tool (CAT), CIC Sustainable Finance Certification Scheme (SFCS), CIC Green Product Certification (GPC).

Having previously excelled as a corporate communications professional for over a decade, Margaret’s true passion lies in translating sustainable development principles and goals into tangible actions and values.

My Sustainability Goals for 2023:

In 2023-24, my sustainability goal is to establish a platform that raises awareness about sectoral sustainability and empowers the construction industry to take tangible actions towards a greener future.

Samuel Kwong

General Manager – ESG

Samuel KWONG is the General Manager – ESG of Chinachem Group with over 25 years of experience in sustainability with multinational conglomerates covering businesses including sports & entertainment, food & beverages, aviation, hospitality, real estate, retail, shipping & infrastructure developments. He is a director of HKIQEP, past Chairman of CIWEM HK & former director of HKGBC & HKBEC. Sam is an engineer by training with bachelor and master degrees from The University of Hong Kong and a master degree of environmental engineering from ENTPE, France, MBA degree from the Chinese University Hong Kong and a degree of laws from the University of London.

YU Ching Yan, Johnny

Head of Sustainability

Mr Yu Ching Yan, Johnny joined the Company in 2020 as the advisor to Chairman. Prior to joining the Company, Mr Yu held various senior positions with UBS, Credit Suisse and Price Waterhouse in both Hong Kong and London. He brought 28 years of extensive experience covering multiple disciplines including sales and marketing, investment advisory, accounting, tax and risk management and control. He leads the sustainability development of the Company and won the prestigious Business Leadership in Sustainability Award at the Asia Pacific Leadership in Green Building Awards 2022, organised by the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC). He also provides strategic advisory on property sales and marketing, policy formulation, digital transformation and innovation. Mr Yu graduated from The London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London with a bachelor’s degree in Management Science and attained his MBA degree in Finance with City University of London. He is a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and Chartered Financial Analyst Institute.

My sustainability goals for 2023:

  • Henderson Land Development Company Limited’s 2030 Sustainability Vision, ‘G.I.V.E.’, has four primary drivers: Green for Planet, Innovation for Future, Value for People and Endeavour for Community, aligning with our commitments to the UNSDGs.

Shelley Zhou

Head of Corporate Sustainability

Ir Dr Shelley Zhou is currently Head of Corporate Sustainability at Hang Seng Bank. Prior to joining Hang Seng, Dr Zhou led ESG services in APAC for Capco, where she developed ESG products and solutions for financial institutions in Asia-Pacific, established a capable team to deliver net-zero strategy advisory and ESG consultancy services, and provided internal capacity-building and external executive training on climate and ESG related topics. Dr Zhou is a sustainability professional, has 20+ years’ experience in corporate sustainability, environmental and carbon management consultancy, new energy and biotechnology in Hong Kong, China and Singapore, covering government, banking, financial, real estate and retail sectors.

Shelley holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Philosophy degree in Civil Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). She is also Adjunct Professor at HKUST.
